Default help me choose external hard disk :3

guys.. need your opinion here :D

i'm currently thinking of buying a new external hard disk. the one i'm using now is almost full ^^;;. so, i'm thinking of getting a 1TB external hard disk. now, the one i'm interested are:

    1) western digital my book 2 essential 1TB
    2) seagate free agent 1TB

please give some opinion on these or if you can suggest anything else i'm glad to hear of it :D what matter to me the most is its realibility and being a 1TB of course xD

and if you could put any link to other products so much the better :3

    thank you!

Only have experience with the Seagate Freeagent Pro, thus I cannot not really tell which one is better, but I would probably get it again.

On the overall I am quite satisfied with the Seagate, because I have had it for more than a year and took it often enough on short trips, it never failed once and has a backup tool included as well.

I'm Samsung harddrive fan so I'd prefer these. If you don't want to have Samsung ( >.< ) then go for Seagate instead!

I used a seagate, and it set on fire, but it was pretty, so I'd pick that again, if I bothered to buy another.

I use a WD in my desktop PC and have an external Maxtor/Seagate 160 G and haven't had a problem with either (just waiting for Murphy's Law to kick in at this stage).

I think these days both are well designed and you would be unlucky to get one that dies .... just think of the number of HDDs out there. Just keep in mind that are devices that use power and have to dissipate heat so make sure that there is some air space around them.

    Good Luck.

I have 4 EX-HDD's at the moment, 80, 80, 160GB, 1TB in sizes. If you want some tried experience, avoid Western Digital at all costs, I had 2 and they both broke down within months taking half my files with them. At the moment the one that seems to the most reliable to me is my 1TB LACIE. I've had it running a few months with a lot of data on it and it's working fine. One issue with it would be that it has too loud a noise when transferring data, but it's no bother to me.

    Summary:

    LACIE
