    Default Data Compression

Hi, i have a question. I have a 7 GB pictures collection folder and inside it have thousand upon thousand of pictures and the problem is every time i want backup my picture to my external hard drive it need to take a longer time to finish.

Or should I just compression the whole thing then just put it some where on the computer and if i have any new pictures i just achieve it to the same file.

I need advice from the baka wolf forumer... please help me..

Just keep them like that. If you archive them all (into one big one, or seperate ones) it's a pain in the butt to unarchive and find the picture you want, unless you plan on keeping it archived forever, not looking at them - but then what would be the point? Also i'd suggest you keep them on the external in the first place, unless it's a portable one you carry around.

FYI this is my images folder, seperated by sub-folders into wallpapers, cute images, loli, hentai, general BIG images, magazine scans, random, etc. And i've got a few more DVD full of pictures/scans that i've yet to add. Don't complain.

Also, Ive heard that you cant compress .jpgs once ran through winrar because jpg itself is already a form of data compression.

I've tried it out and its always the same. if you have a 50mb folder of pics and even if you set winrar on highest compression youll still end up with a 50mb rar. Is i doing it wrong?
    YOU GONNA GET JAKKA JAN'D

Compressing them would just be a waste of time; you'd be spending hours just compressing them to make them fit into a smaller filesize, unless you were just aiming to put them into one .rar file, which is hardly different than putting all of them in one folder. In terms of being able to browse through compressed pictures, it's no different than browsing through a folder, other than that you can'y open one picture with image viewer then browse through the rest of the pictures using left and right, and a few other minor things.

    you aren't doing anything wrong

as you mentioned jpeg files are already compressed, because of this you won't decrease the file size by anything significant, even if you select the highest level of compression you can

if its .jpg, forget about compression.
if i have to, i'd go with 7zip.

as for copy handlers, try Tera Copy
    just grab the free version.
